Blessed Memory

July 20, one of the oldest employees, one of the KAMAZ Foundry fathers Semen M. Shnayderman left this world after disease.

He threw in his lot with KAMAZ Foundry as far back as in 1970. Beginning his work at the KAMAZ General Management in Moscow, he joined to the group of experts designing the future Grey & Malleable Cast Iron Foundry of the automobile giant.

Being already in Naberezhnye Chelny in 1973-74, Semen Shnayderman participated in the construction of the Grey & Malleable Cast Iron Foundry and first administrative and amenity buildings of the factory. In August, 1975, he was involved in erection of a unique automatic molding line for cylinder block castings. After that he worked together with his colleagues to approach the day of first melting of iron that occurred April 22, 1976.

Ten years later, in 1986, Semen Shnayderman together with a group of foundry specialists developed an absolutely new technology and a complex of automatic equipment to produce magnesium foundry alloys. That permitted KAMAZ Foundry to become a leader of SG iron manufacturing within a short period of time.

Lately, Semen Shnayderman was directly engaged in the SG-iron castings manufacture project based on the state-of-art technology of ladle inoculation. As positive results achieved, the new method was implemented step by step on the automatic molding lines in the iron castings production area.

For his merits and services in the foundry industry Semen Shnayderman was honoured many awards and titles. He would be 75 next year. The disease prematurely cut off his life. His colleagues and like-minded people will keep for ever a blessed memory of this talented person in their hearts.

Cast Iron Is the Metal of Future

In the early October, the All-Russian conference SG-Iron and CG-Iron Are the Metals of Future will be held and hosted by KAMAZ-Metallurgy Plc.. The event will be supported by Russian Foundrymen Association. It is planned to discuss the matters concerning the technology and inoculation methods, melting equipment, occupational safety and health, safety measures, etc..

Today, the world and Russian automobile manufacturers show their deep interest in SGI and CGI. It is quite naturally that KAMAZ Foundry took the initiative in organization of such scale meeting. The KAMAZ foundrymen have gained great experience in manufacturing of products made of these materials, acquired a significant production and science-linkage potential. The specialists of KAMAZ Inc. are the first in Russia who mastered the technology of SG-iron manufacturing when using the cored wire as an inoculant. As planned by the organizers, the meeting will permit not only to exchange experience, discuss problems and achievements in the field but also to stir the interest of potential customers in foundry industry and products of KAMAZ-Metallurgy Plc..

Youth, Experience and professional skills.

Today in the shop of steel precision molding Of Foundry plant “Kamaz-Metallurgy” there was the competition of professional skills among workers of smelting section. This tradition was born 11 years ago, and since that time men in this submission have never failed it, they determine the best specialist in profession of metal and alloys’ smelter and metal caster. Note that the 2nd decade of contest was started with innovations. Firstly, contest enlarge age requirement, and young casters and smelters were jointed by older more experienced mates. But with the only difference special nomination “The best mentor” was brought in for them. That’s why competitors were divided into working crews, and apart from individual trial grades for the work of the whole team were put down. And these marks became criteria for the estimation of mentors’ skills. The second change is that workers of vacuum-film moulding shop took part in professional competition.

As for the rest the traditional scheme of competition was kept to. Each participant must go through 2 laps: test for knowledge of profession’s theoretical basis and doing practical task on his work place. It is significant, that organizers hadn’t prepared practical task expressly for the contest. It was the part of shift task. Grade’s criteria remained unaltered too: quality of work implementation, time limits, maintenance of safety measures and corporate production culture. And as judges noted, the level of competitors’ knowledge was stably high in all marks’ criteria. But nevertheless, the best were defined. In metal and alloys smelters’ competition they became Marat Zakirov (1st place) and Pavel Besfamilnij (2nd place), the best in doing practical task among the casters became Dmitrij Derbenev, and exactly he won the 1st place , the 2nd –Azat Hikmatullin and the 3rd – Radik Ynusov. The best mentors were declared Vladimir Gerasimov and Vladimir Tulgin. All competitors were distinguished with memorable presents, and the winners will get pecuniary premiums.

Under the badge of quality

“Russkij Registr” Association’s (St Petersburg) re-certification audit of Quality Management was held successfully by Kamaz-Metallurgy, Plc. Quality Management system (QMS), that is in force at the plant more than one year was acknowledged being in accordance with world requirements once again. The plant will get new certificates in new standard’s version – ISO 9001:2008. Functioning of Integrated Management System in field of Protection of and Ecology was estimated for conformity with OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001at the same time. It was the third successful inspection audit for IQS.

From 19th to 23rd of April the right of Kamaz-Metallurgy, Plc of possessing new quality certificates will be estimated by the group of auditor from «TUV» (Germany). And unlike their Russian colleagues from “Russkij Registr” German specialists of certification organization are supposed to pay more attention to manufacturing itself, study of functioning and improvement QMS in real production conditions. Whereas “Russkij Registr” paid more attention on how the functioning of QMS is confirmed in documents and procedures
